PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection device, constituted that can exclude the effects of the disturbance of the magnetic flux acting on an inspection target and can accurately inspect the inspection target, and to provide an inspection method. SOLUTION: The inspection device 1 includes a magnetic flux generating part 10, equipped with an exciting electrode 11 and a recovery electrode 12 for generating magnetic flux that intermittently changes in positive and negative between both electrodes, a leakage magnetic flux detecting part 30 for detecting the leakage magnetic flux leaking from the jointing part 4 of metal plates 2 and 3, arranged between the exciting electrode 11 and the recovery electrode 12 and a control part 41 for calculating the difference between the detection value of first leakage magnetic flux detected, when the magnetic flux generated by the magnetic flux generating part 10 is positive and the detection value of the second leakage magnetic flux detected, when the magnetic flux generated by the magnetic flux generating part 10 is negative.
