PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal transmitter of non-power supply and a communication system capable of confirming the approximate location of the signal transmitter and tracking the signal transmitter. SOLUTION: The portable signal transmitter 110 used for the communication system has a power generation unit 10, a radio transmission unit 12 for performing radio transmission of a signal by power generated by the power generation unit 10, an operation mechanism 14 for operating the power generation unit 10 and a case 16 for housing them. The power generation unit 10 has a piezoelectric element 22, a spring 26 and a permanent magnet 28, and the operation mechanism 14 comprises a magnetic action body 36 for generating attraction with the permanent magnet 28, a plate spring 38 holding the magnetic action body 36 and a wedge member 40 for making the magnetic action body 36 away from the permanent magnet 28 in a state of being attached to the case 16 and supporting the plate spring 38 so as to make the magnetic action body 36 close to the permanent magnet 28 side in a state of being detached from the case 16.
