PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder device in which the looseness (rotation) of an end cap relative to a cylinder tube is surely prevented and a method of manufacturing the cylinder device. SOLUTION: This cylinder device comprises a cylinder tube 11 having a female screw part 12 on the inner peripheral surface thereof at the axial end and an end cap 14 having a male screw part 15 corresponding to the female screw part on the outer peripheral surface and screwed to the axial one end of the cylinder tube. A through hole 13 is formed in the peripheral wall of the cylinder tube at the generally axial center of the female screw part along the radial direction. With the end cap screwed to the cylinder tube, a plastic deformation part 21 is formed on a part of the male screw part by crushing the threads 15a of the male screw part with a tool through the through hole. Since the end cap cannot be rotated nor moved, the end cap screwed to the cylinder tube can be prevented from being loosened (rotated). COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
