PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stretching machine of a sheetlike article capable of variably regulating stretching quantity with respect to a plurality of directions by a simple structure and enhancing the stretching efficiency and yield of the sheetlike article. SOLUTION: The stretching machine of the sheetlike article includes a pair of endless link devices, each of which has a preheating region for preheating the sheetlike article while guiding a plurality of equal length links for grasping the sheetlike article along a pair of rails on outer and inner peripheral sides, a stretching region, a thermal fixing region for thermally fixing the sheetlike article so as to hold a stretched state and an equal length link feeding member. Each of the endless link devices is equipped with a first means for regulating the interval between the feed side parts of the rails on the outer and inner peripheral sides in the stretching region and a second means for regulating the interval between the feed side parts of the rails on the outer and inner peripheral sides in the thermal fixing region corresponding to the first means to arrange the rails on the outer and inner peripheral sides almost in parallel to each other and constituted so that the interval between the feed side parts of the rails on the outer and inner peripheral sides is regulated in the thermal fixing region corresponding to the first and second means and the number of the equal length links in the return side parts of the rails on the outer and inner peripheral sides is regulated.
