PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold down a loss of a target detection probability to the minimum by providing a noise distribution measuring system and an adaptive target detecting circuit for selecting and executing the optimum target detection system according to the measurement result. SOLUTION: A signal input to a noise distribution measuring system 8 is first subjected to data sampling in a noise distribution measuring circuit 5 to take the ensemble average concerning the distribution. Subsequently, in a pattern matching circuit 7, collation with a distribution information template 6 prepared for the distribution obtained in the noise distribution measuring circuit 5 is performed to determine the distribution of noise to be output to an adaptive target detecting circuit 9. A switching control device of the adaptive target detecting circuit 9 controls a change-over switch 4 in such a manner as to select an adaptive CFAR system in CFAR part on receiving the determination result of the noise distribution in the noise distribution measuring meter 9 to execute target detection by the CFAR system.
