A two-phase stainless steel which is excellent in corrosion resistance in a chloride environment and in impact properties and is suitable for use as a pump material for seawater desalination or a material for devices/apparatuses or chemical tanks. The two-phase stainless steel is characterized in that it contains, in terms of mass%, up to 0.06% C, 0.05-3.0% Si, 0.1-6.0% Mn, up to 0.05% P, up to 0.010% S, 1.0-10.0% Ni, 18-30% Cr, up to 5.0% Mo, up to 3.0% Cu, 0.10-0.40% N, 0.001-0.08% Al, 0.003-0.05% Ti, 0.0001-0.0030% Mg, and up to 0.010% O, the product of the nitrogen activity coefficient (f_N), titanium content, and nitrogen content, i.e., f_N×Ti×N, is 0.00004%² or more, and the product of the titanium content and the nitrogen content, i.e., Ti×N, is 0.008%² or less.
