PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating an asbestos-containing material using a cement production process where there is no risk of the scattering of asbestos from an asbestos-containing material, thus detoxification treatment can be easily and securely performed in a rotary kiln used for cement production. SOLUTION: In the method for treating an asbestos-containing material using a cement production process where a cement raw material is fed from the side of the back 2 in a rotary kiln 1 whose inside is held to a high temperature atmosphere by a heating means 5 provided at the side of the front 4 in the rotary kiln 1, and, while the cement raw material is fed to the side of the front 4 in the rotary kiln 1, firing is performed, the asbestos-containing material is admixed with a solvent for imparting fluidity and is pulverized by a wet type mill 12, and the slurry containing the asbestos-containing material pulverized in the wet type mill 12 is fed from the side of the front 4 in the rotary kiln 1 to the inside through transfer piping 15, and is subjected to combustion treatment.
