PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording medium in which expansion can be performed for increment of types holding expression form and compatibility of type discrimination information of an existing DVD. SOLUTION: In the information recording medium in which a disk type discrimination code specifying a kind of a disk is recorded in the prescribed area, the disk type discrimination code is provided with a first disk type discrimination code specifying a kind of a disk classified to a first group, a second disk type discrimination code specifying a kind of a disk classified to a second group, and a judgement flag validating either of the first disk type discrimination code and the second disk type discrimination code and invalidating the other.
