An apparatus for preventing overheat of a printing head is provided to occupy a small space, thereby having the optimum performance by using the minimum processing cost. A temperature sensing member(100) outputs a voltage applied between the first and second resistors. The first resistor with the low resistance temperature coefficient is connected in series to the second resistor with the high resistance temperature coefficient. A voltage dividing member(200) divides a voltage and outputs the divided voltage. A comparing member(300) compares the output voltage of the temperature sensing member with the output voltage of the voltage dividing member and stops the drive of the printing head according to the comparison result. The resistance of first and second resistors is increased when the temperature increases.
