A backlight assembly and a display device having the same are provided to arrange point light sources to prevent a specific color from being concentrated in a specific zone, thereby reducing a thickness of the display device and removing quality faults that latticed patterns or the like are visually recognized. Point light source groups(220) where first to fourth point light sources(221-224) for generating different light are arranged in a square form are arranged in plural rows and columns on a circuit board(210). The point light source groups adjacent to each other in the same column are arranged so that the first to fourth point light sources can be rotated at 90 degrees. The first point light source includes a red LED(Light Emitting Diode) for generating red light. The second point light source includes a greed LED(Light Emitting Diode) for generating green light. The third point light source includes a blue LED(Light Emitting Diode) for generating blue light. The fourth point light source includes a white LED(Light Emitting Diode) for generating white light.
