摘要 A method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving signals in a communication system and a channel structure for the same are provided to receive RACH(Random Access Channel) signals from UE(User Equipments) more efficiently by distributing RACH slots to UEs efficiently. The power of a UE is turned on(S1101), the UE executes cell searching and uplink synchronization(S1102). Also the UE acquires an uplink structure, and identifies an RACH(S1103). Then, using the total RACH length allocated in the present cell, the UE executes initial access(S1104). If a response signal is received from a base station through the initial access, the UE measures the distance from the base station by comparing uplink synchronization information with downlink synchronization information using the received signal(S1105). Based on the measured distance information, the UE selects a proper length among the total RACH length(S1106). Using the selected length, the UE executes random access(S1107).
