An implant is made of a biocorrodible metallic material having a coating of an organosilicon compound. An implant is made of a biocorrodible metallic material having a coating of an organosilicon compound of formula Si-(XR 1R 3R 2) (I). X : O, S, or N functionality on a surface of the implant; R 1and R 2optionally substituted 1-5C alkyl or an oxygen bridge to a neighboring organosilicon compound; R 3optionally substituted 3-30C alkyl residue or 3-30C alkyl bridge to a neighboring organosilicon compound (where 1-3C atoms are replaceable by a heteroatom selected from O, S, and N). An independent claim is included for producing an implant of a biocorrodible metallic material having a coating of the organosilicon compound (I) involving providing a blank for the implant comprising the biocorrodible metallic material; optionally, pretreating a blank surface to generate O, S, or N functionalities; and coating the blank surface using an organosilicon reagent, which reacts between silicon and O, S, or N functionality to form a covalent bond, either the organosilicon compound (I) forming directly, or first a precursor organosilicon compound occurring, which is converted via further treatment steps into the organosilicon compound of formula (I). |
