DISPLAY PANEL AND DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

A display panel and a display device having the same are provided to enable a liquid crystal layer interposed between a first substrate and a second substrate to be operated in one of a vertical mode, a horizontal mode, and an inclination mode, thereby realizing a wide viewing angle black image, a narrow viewing angle black image, and a narrow viewing angle white image. A display panel(100) comprises a first substrate(110), a second substrate(120) and a liquid crystal layer(130). The first substrate has a first pixel electrode(112) and a second pixel electrode(114). A first voltage is applied to the first pixel electrode, and a second voltage is applied to the second pixel electrode. The second substrate is disposed to face the first substrate and has a common electrode to which a third voltage is applied. The liquid crystal layer is composed of liquid crystal interposed between the first and second substrates, and is operated in one of a horizontal mode, a vertical mode, and an inclination mode. The liquid crystal is disposed in parallel with one of a first polarizing axis(210) and a second polarizing axis(310) in the horizontal mode. The liquid crystal is vertically disposed for the first substrate in the vertical mode. The liquid crystal is disposed between the first and second polarizing axes in the inclination mode.
