An apparatus and a method for processing the video data of a DTV having a multivision function are provided to operate the DTV as a screen of a multivision by setting a corresponding screen position by a menu setting unit in using the DTV as the multivision, and use the DTV like a normal DTV when there is no need to use the multivision, thereby reducing cost consumed to construct the multivision by constructing easily the multivision using the normal DTV. An apparatus for processing the video data of a DTV(Digital Television) comprises a menu setting unit(10), an MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) processing unit(20) and a screen producing unit(30). The menu setting unit sets a multivision screen division ratio and a division position. The MPEG processing unit includes a programming interface and an MPEG decoder(22). The programming interface assigns the interested region range of video data for the screen division ratio and division position set by the menu setting unit. The MPEG decoder extracts and restores corresponding video data when a signal for the interested region is applied from the programming interface. The screen reproducing unit displays a corresponding screen according to the screen division position set by the menu setting unit.
