A golf club head is provided to obtain stable flying distances and to maintain the difference in the flying distance small by installing a thickness portion extending in X direction. A face(11) of a golf club head that becomes a hitting surface of a golf ball is made of metal. A thickness portion extending approximately in X direction is installed on the center of the rear of the face to divide the rear surface of the face into four divided surfaces. The thicknesses of the plate of the concerned divided surfaces are formed to be more than two kinds. The maximum difference in the thickness of plates within the entire face including the thickness portion is 1-5mm. The value derived by dividing the maximum difference in the thickness of plates within the entire face including the thickness portion by the width of the thickness portion is 7.6-62.5%.
