A bit conversion method of digital audio data, a decoder apparatus performing the same, and a method of reproducing digital audio data are provided to set a pre-treatment range using the data stored in an IMDCT buffer by a 32 bit unit and to shift the set 32 bits to the right side by 8 bits for removing 8 bits, using 16 bits among the remaining 24 bits, and storing the 16 bits in a output buffer. As many bits as a first bit number among the bits contained in a bit conversion unit are extracted as second digital audio data when the bit number per sample of a first digital audio data is a second bit number. The second digital audio data is output to an audio reproducing apparatus. The bits contained in the bit conversion unit are shifted right by 8 bits(364). The second digital audio data is reproduced as PCM(pulse code modulation) data(340). The reproduced PCM data is stored(350).
