The device has an asynchronous motor actuating an operating unit that operates a window (1) constituted by glass walls. A thin metallic layer (8) is placed on a surface of the wall (5) and delimits parts (9, 10) spaced by a straight plastic band (11). The parts constitute metal electrodes respectively joined by electrical connections (12, 13) of an electric voltage source. The electrodes and the band form a capacitor whose dielectric constant varies during the presence of an obstacle e.g. hand of a user, where the variation of the constant controls the motor via an electronic case (14).
