PURPOSE: A device for searching offline cells in a mobile communication system and a method therefor are provided to perform a high speed offline cell searching process in a DRX(Discontinuous Reception) mode, to reduce power consumption, thereby increasing standby time. CONSTITUTION: A decimator(101) inputs an in-phase receiving signal and a quadrature receiving signal, and outputs in-phase on-time data, quadrature on-time data, in-phase rate time data, and quadrature rate time data. A memory(103) buffers the data outputted from the decimator(101). A multiplexer(105) inputs outputs of the decimator(101) and the memory(103), and selectively outputs an output of the memory(103). A cell searcher(107) generates scrambling codes, inputs outputs of the multiplexer(105), and performs a high speed cell searching process. A controller(100) outputs the buffered data by controlling the memory(103) during an offline cell searching process, and selects data outputted from the memory(103) by controlling the multiplexer(105). |
