PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop oscillation of a lance in the widthwise direction. SOLUTION: When a front retainer 30 is mounted on a housing 10, since its contacting faces 171, 172, 173, 174, 176, 177, 178 of the lance 17 are contacted with the contacting faces 371, 372, 373, 374, 376, 377, 378 of the front retainer 30 in the widthwise direction intersecting perpendicularly with the elastic direction, the lance 17 becomes hard to be oscillated in the width direction and the elastic direction. Therefore, the lance 17 is locked with the terminal fittings 20 sufficiently and stably when mounted, and the falling-off prevention of the terminal fittings 20 becomes sufficient. Moreover, since oscillation stopping of the lance has been enabled without raising rigidity of the lance root part, increase of insertion force of the terminal fittings due to the raised rigidity of the lance can be evaded in advance.
