<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technical term discriminating device for discriminating the technicality of a composite word, even when the information showing that words configuring the composite word is technical terms is not stored. <P>SOLUTION: This technical term discriminating device 100 for discriminating the technicality of a composite word is provided with a composite word dividing part 120 for dividing a composite word configured by combining configuring words into configuring words; a meaning distance calculating part 130 for calculating a meaning distance between the divided configuring words; and a technicality deciding part 140 for deciding the technicality of the composite word, based on the scale of the meaning distance calculated by the meaning distance calculating part 130.
