摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake device for an internal combustion engine capable of suppressing interference of flow between mutually adjoining two intake ports and improving intake charge efficiency without damping a swirl. SOLUTION: The intake device comprises a swirl generation port 4 giving intake a tangential component St directed in the tangential direction of the inner peripheral face of a cylinder 2 of an internal combustion engine 1 and a swirling component Sr swirling in a face crossing the center line CL of the cylinder 2, and a follower port 5 arranged next to the swirl generation port 4 and introducing intake to the cylinder 2. Each of the swirl generation port 4 and the follower port 5 comprises an intake inlet 40, 50 opening on a ceiling surface 8a of a combustion chamber 8 of the internal combustion engine 1, and a periphery portion 40a, 50a positioned in the boundary of them and the ceiling surface 8a. Viewing from above of the cylinder 2, the shortest distance L1 from the center line CL of the cylinder 2 to the periphery portion 50a of the follower port 5 is shorter than the shortest distance L2 to the periphery portion 40a of the swirl generation port 4.
