PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine stopping device of a portable work machine capable of effectively preventing breaking of an ignition unit internal circuit by static electricity, without imparting an unpleasant feeling by static electricity discharge to a worker, by surely discharging this electrified static electricity, without passing through the ignition unit internal circuit, even if the static electricity is electrified to a plastic material part and an engine (such as equipment and materials). SOLUTION: This engine stopping device 1 is formed by arranging a conductive rubber grip 35 composed of a conductive rubber material in a hand-held handle 30, and is provided with a switch body 62 having a pair of contact point parts 62a and 62b, an operation part 63 operated by hands and fingers for turning on and off this switch body 62, and a stopping switch 60 having a switch side earth plate 65 composed of a conductive metallic material arranged between the operation part 63 and the switch body 62, and is formed by electrically conducting the switch side earth plate 65 and an engine side electric grounding part via the conductive rubber grip 35.
