PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing needle which allows one to freely choose from among a variety of natural fiber threads and synthetic fiber threads different in color and thickness, as well as sewing threads of general thickness, can freely be used in repetition, and allows safe hand sewing without needing to worry about hurting oneself unless a fingertip is intentionally pricked. SOLUTION: A needle main body 1 is made of resin, has a needle hole 5 of a hole diameter through which a sewing thread can pass at a part except a needle point 3 at the tip of the needle main body 1 in a diameter direction and a thread leading part 7 which continues from opening parts 5a and 5b at both ends of the needle hole 5 to at least a head part end 4a and has a step difference 6 equal to the thickness or larger when the sewing thread is compressed between itself and an outside face part 2 of the needle main body 1.
