<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain excessive cooling of an internal combustion engine when stopping the engine, while precisely restraining pre-ignition when beginning starting of the engine. <P>SOLUTION: The cooling control device cools an engine 1, by driving a cooling system, when the cooling water temperature is a threshold value or more, when stopping the engine 1. The threshold value is variably set as follows: when a crank angle when completing stopping of the engine 1, is one of positioning a piston 4 of a cylinder becoming a compression stroke in the first place at the bottom dead center after beginning starting of the next time, the threshold value is set at the cooling water temperature of not causing the pre-ignition in the cylinder when beginning starting of the next time. When the crank angle when completing stopping of the engine 1, is that where a position of the piston 4 of the cylinder becoming the compression stroke in the first place, becomes a position nearer to the top dead center than the bottom dead center after beginning starting of the next time, the threshold value is set so as to gradually becomes a higher value than the above-mentioned value, as the position of its piston 4 becomes a crank angle becoming near to the top dead center. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
