PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accomplish a method for manufacturing, at good accuracy, a rolling bearing unit for supporting a wheel provided with a hub 2 in which a pair of hub elements 9, 10 divided into inner and outer sides are combined by diameter-enlarging any one hub element 10, without deteriorating the yield. SOLUTION: After a cylinder part 11 is plastically deformed to bond/fixed the both hub elements 9, 10 to each other, finishing working is applied to a surface requiring accuracy such as a mounting surface 26 of a mounting flange 5 and a bonding surface 23 of a flange 6 for bonding the wheel.
