<PICT:0799908/III/1> <PICT:0799908/III/2> In a machine for making paper boxes, adhesive is applied to the upper surfaces of the box blanks B by means of an endless belt 213 which runs over two pairs of pulleys, a lower coaxial driven pair, one 160 of which causes the belt to make tangential contact with a roller 100 partially immersed in a reservoir 101 of adhesive situated to one side of and below the level of the blanks, while the other 161 brings the belt into contact with the blanks, and an upper coaxial pair 196, 197 above the first pair and at right angles to them so that there is a 90 degree twist in each vertical section of the belt. The upper pulleys are mounted on a pivoted member 170 so that the tension of the belt may be adjusted by a screw 174. The blank B is urged against the belt by the resilient fingers 241, 242. The reservoir and applying mechanism may be moved transversely on the shaft 108 so as to apply a strip of adhesive at any desired location on the blank. |
