A method for managing additional information in a digital broadcasting device is provided to divide the main signal and service information of a digital broadcasting signal when it is requested for a tuned digital broadcasting signal to be converted from an HD class into an SD class and recorded, store the main signal such as video and sound streams in a recording unit and store the additional information in an external recording unit connected to the digital broadcasting device according to the priority, thereby checking, editing and managing the additional information through devices connected to the external recording unit. A method for managing additional information in a digital broadcasting device comprises the following steps of: dividing the main signal and service information of a digital broadcasting signal when it is requested for a tuned digital broadcasting signal to be converted from an HD(High Definition) class into an SD(Standard Definition) class and recorded(S10,S11); converting the main signal into the SD class and recording the converted main signal in an internal recording unit(S12); and outputting and recording the divided service information to an external recording unit(S13~S17).
