A cover opening and closing mechanism for pressure cooker is arranged between the cooker body (1) and the cooker cover (2) and includes at least two tongs (3) for fasten the edges of the cooker body (1) and the cooker cover (2). Numbers of connecting rods (4) that have the same amount with the tongs (3) are hinged with the cooker cover (2). The front ends of the connecting rods (4) are hinged with the tongs (3). A rotating disc (5) is arranged in the middle of the cooker cover (2). Said rotating disc (5) forces the connecting rods (4) to swing about the hinging point of the connecting rods (4) and the cooker cover (2).
