Locking screw for an intramedullary nail

The locking screw (1) for an intramedullary nail (2) comprises at least one transversal hole (3). The locking screw comprises a central longitudinal axis (7), a screw shank (4) which is least partially provided at with an external thread (5) and a screw head (6). The diameter of the screw head is greater than the outer diameter of the external thread and the screw head comprises a passage (8) which extends in an essentially parallel manner in relation to the longitudinal axis and the external thread in order to receive a longitudinal wedge element (9). As a result, the existing backlash between the locking screw and the intramedullary nail is eliminated and the locking screw is wedged in the transversal hole of the intramedullary nail.
