<p>#CMT# #/CMT# A transducer is provided for exciting and detecting a high frequency electromagnetic wave (4) propagating axially along a tool (3) penetrating a material (2) to be processed. The transducer is connected to a signal processing device which determines the penetration depth of the tool in the material, based on the high frequency electromagnetic waves.
