<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method and control device for an image forming apparatus, which exert process control under process conditions that have high image quality evaluation taking into account of not only stability of density and gradation but also prevention of image quality deterioration in the setting of process conditions for density control, specifically, for example, under conditions that ensures satisfactory dot reproducibility and graininess. <P>SOLUTION: The control device for the image forming apparatus that forms an image by the input of image information includes: a setting means 47 for setting a plurality of process conditions in order; a pattern formation means 14 for forming a pattern image under set process conditions; a gradation characteristic and dot characteristic evaluation means B that evaluates a gradation characteristic and dot characteristic based on the pattern image; a process condition selecting means 47 for selecting at least one of the process conditions based on the results of the respective evaluations; and a gradation correcting means 47 for correcting gradation under the selected process conditions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
