PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which prevents irregularity of temperature in a circulating direction and a width direction from occurring on a fixing belt, and which is excellent in fixing property and free from the occurrence of excessive temperature rise at both ends in the width direction of the fixing belt, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: A control means corrects heating amount or/and heating timing by a heating means at a heating position based on a distance difference in the circulating direction between the heating position and a first detecting position (S1, S4, S5 to S7). An adjusting means corrects temperature deviation in the width direction of the fixing belt at the heating position based on distance differences in the circulating direction between the heating position and the first detecting position and a second detecting position (S1, S2, S4, S8 and S9).
