A shuttle stitch machine or quilting machine is provided to suppress the abrasion of a shuttle and reduce the noise generated from the vicinity of the shuttle, by using a guide element for guiding the shuttle while moving with the shuttle during reciprocation of the shuttle. A shuttle stitch machine or quilting machine comprises a driver guide(21) for reciprocation of at least one shuttle, or a similarity of the driver guide. The machine further comprises a guide element(31) moving with the shuttle when the shuttle is reciprocated. The guide element is disposed within the driver guide. The guide element is movable by a driving unit, wherein the driving unit moves the shuttle together with the guide element. Further, the guide elements contain a vent contacting surface in order to guide the shuttle.
