PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a disorder or condition using an alpha-2-delta ligand with high affinity and selectivity for the alpha-2-delta-1 calcium channel subunit subtype. SOLUTION: Administration of the alpha-2-delta-1 selective ligand, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, to a mammal, including a human, avoids or reduces the adverse effects compared to the administration of an alpha-2-delta non-selective ligand.
