PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack for a wire rod, which is capable of reducing transporting costs by preventing the wire rod from or being damaged during its transportation by a container and by facilitating unloading and fixing the wire rod in an upright end position, and to provide a method for conveying the wire rod. SOLUTION: The rack 1 for the wire rod accommodates the wire rod C in an upright end position. The rack 1 includes a placing section 2 on which the outer peripheral face of the wire rod C can be placed, a holding section 3 which is provided above the placing section 2 and can hold the wire rod C, and spaces 4 which is provided below the placing section 2 and into which a conveying means F for conveying the rack 1 for the wire coil can be inserted.
