PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ink which is oil-based ballpoint pen ink using a cellulose derivative and has quality not adversely affected while a filtration time is shortened to enhance its production efficiency. SOLUTION: The oil-based ballpoint pen ink is one essentially consisting of at least a colorant, an organic solvent, and a shear-viscosity reducing agent, wherein the organic solvent contains a predominant portion of a glycol monoether and 0.05-5.0%, based on the entire amount of the ink, 2-6C polyhydric alcohol, and the shear-viscosity reducing agent is a cellulose derivative contained in an amount of 0.02-3 wt.% based on the entire amount of the ink.
