<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce computing volume while maintaining recognition accuracy in recognition of a pedestrian. <P>SOLUTION: When a frame of a determination object area is captured from an image P1 shot by a camera, and if the frame of the determination area is captured from a lower side in the image, the capturing spacing is made larger compared with the case when capturing is made from the upper side. Then, the matching levels with the template in the captured determination object area which is captured with comparatively large spacing is compared. For the determination object area of comparatively high matching rate, the determination target area including whole pedestrian image is captured by performing shift matching to the circumference or performing the pattern matching for the second time by enlarging the size of the capturing area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
