PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-car elevator capable of detecting the positions of a plurality of cars with high accuracy, safely enhancing transport efficiency, and enhancing reliability by preventing any interference of equipment as the multi-car elevator. SOLUTION: The multi-car elevator comprises an in-tower input unit 5a provided on the measurement side of a first acoustic signal conductor 4a to generate an acoustic signal, an in-tower detector 6b provided on the measurement side of a second acoustic signal conductor 4b to detect an acoustic signal, an on-car detector 7a provided on each car, and an on-car input unit 8a provided on each car. A call signal is generated from the in-tower input unit 5a, and detected by the on-car detector 7a.
