<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent roller distortion of a development roller for use in an electrophotographic process caused by contact with a photoreceptor, a cleaning blade, etc., when the roller is allowed to stand in the unused state over a long period of time, to prevent the occurrence of image defects due to the roller distortion, and to thereby obtain a good image even after the roller is allowed to stand in the unused state over a long period of time, by using an elastic roller as a conductive roller. <P>SOLUTION: The elastic roller has a metallic cylinder, an elastic layer 3 formed on the metallic cylinder and made of foam comprising a thermosetting resin, and at least one surface layer formed on the elastic layer. The elastic roller is obtained by a manufacturing method including a fine particle dispersion step of dispersing fine particles comprising a thermoplastic resin in a thermosetting resin, an elastic layer molding step of molding an elastic layer, and a fine particle fusion step of fusing at least part of the fine particles dispersed in the elastic layer by heating treatment after the elastic layer molding step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
