PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder which can prevent a normal meniscus formed in a recording head from being broken caused by a rise of an environmental temperature in the image recorder wherein a second tank carried on a carriage together with the recording head is separated from a first tank set in a recorder body. SOLUTION: A sub-tank 37 is carried on the carriage 34 which is moved to and fro. The sub-tank 37 is separated from an ink cartridge 38 attached to an apparatus body 8. The environmental temperature is measured at a printer part 2, and whether or not an amount of change of the environmental temperature per unit time exceeds a threshold value is judged. When the amount of change exceeds the threshold value, the ink cartridge 38 and the sub-tank 37 are linked. In that state, the sub-tank 37 is contracted by a predetermined amount. While the sub-tank 37 sucks the ink of the ink cartridge 38 after being elastically restored, the ink cartridge 38 and the sub-tank 37 are separated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
