<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure diagnostic apparatus, a failure diagnostic system, a failure diagnostic method, and a failure diagnostic program capable of reducing computational complexity necessary for failure diagnostic processing, and increasing the precision of the failure diagnosis. <P>SOLUTION: This apparatus is equipped with a whole model creation means for creating a whole model of an image forming apparatus, by combining only partial models modeling the relations between the states of failures and the causes of the failures causing the failure states concerning groups of components constituting the image forming apparatus; and performing modeling concerning groups of components used for functions provided by the apparatus during its failure. Further, the apparatus has a failure diagnostic means for analyzing the whole model created by the whole model creation means, and computing the probability of occurrence of a failure cause of the image forming apparatus. Accordingly, since the whole model is created whose objects of diagnosis are only the groups of components used for the functions provided by the image forming apparatus during its failure, not only the precision of the failure diagnosis can be raised but the computational complexity necessary for the failure diagnosis can be reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
