PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take a photograph instantaneously even when a camera is set to a special photography mode such as self-timer photography or long-time exposure photography. SOLUTION: The digital camera in which a normal photography mode and a special photography mode can be selected is provided with: a first switch 21 and a second switch 22 successively turned on by the depressing operation of a shutter button. It has a measuring means 15 measuring time from turning on of the first switch 21 to turning on of the second switch 22, and a comparison means 16 comparing the measured time by the measuring means 15 with predetermined time set in advance. When the measured time is shorter than the predetermined time, the photograph is taken immediately in the normal photography mode even if the special photography mode is selected. In the normal photography mode, the photograph is taken in an automatic photography mode by AE and AF. In the special photography mode, the photograph is taken in a self-timer photography mode.
