PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove foreign matter sticking on a cleaning object surface of an imaging unit and not to electrostatically charge the cleaning object surface after the removal. SOLUTION: An imaging device has a cleaning member 11 which can scan in a state of being in contact with a surface of an optical element 201. The cleaning member 11 has conductivity and is grounded through a conduction means during cleaning wherein the cleaning member 11 comes into contact with the surface of the optical element 201 to remove the foreign matter. Consequently, the cleaning object surface after the foreign matter is removed is not electrostatically charged to suppress electrostatic attraction of foreign matter. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
