PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for forming a pattern for a light guiding plate and a method of manufacturing a light guiding plate. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a light guiding plate is characterized in comprising: (a) a step of preparing a plurality of light guiding plates, each of the light guiding plates being a mother substrate on which optical patterns are formed; (b) a step of disposing molding frames forming molding patterns on at least one surface of the light guiding plates; (c) a step of forming optical patterns corresponding to the molding patterns on the light guiding plates by hydrostatic pressing; and (d) a step of removing the molding frames disposed on at least one surface of the light guiding plates. Using the hydrostatic pressing, a highly accurate prism patterns can be simultaneously formed on a large number of light guiding plates, which makes compatible high convergence properties by the prism patterns and ultra thin profile by the pressure molding as well as making reduction in cost possible by mass production.
