发明名称 Improvements relating to ships' windows
摘要 820,056. Ships' windows. BULLS' METAL & MARINE Ltd. May 1, 1957 [May 3, 1956], No. 13725/56. Class 20(3) In a ship's window comprising a main frame and at least one horizontally slidable pane, wedging means at the top and bottom for holding the pane against a seating on its outboard side comprises a plurality of pins guided in inclined slots in the top and bottom members of the main frame and engaged with wedge bars displaceable parallel to the pane and on which the pane is slidably guided, the ends of the slots in the top and bottom main frame members being open towards the inboard side of the main frame so that the pins and wedge bars can be readily released, together with the pane, from the main frame so that the top or bottom of the pane can be drawn clear of the frame in the inboard direction and the pane then withdrawn from the frame. As shown a fixed pane 2 and slidable pane 1 are held in a frame comprising a T-shaped astragal 9 and members 3, 4, 5, 6 of substantially Z-section, the pane 2 being received in recessed seatings in the frame members 3, 5, 6 and the slidable pane 1 having an inner frame 14, the outer channel 17 of which, along the members 3, 6, acts as a guide for wedge bars 18 (Figs. 3, 7) extending inside the fixed pane 2 substantially the full width of the window. The pane is guided on tongues 19 on the bars 18 and the channel 17 and bars 18 may be of low friction material or the channels 17 may house roller bearings for smooth running. The bars 18 are capable of limited longitudinal movement, against surfaces 20 of flanges 21 on the members 3, 6, and their outer surfaces are grooved to reduce friction. Pins 23 pass through and are longitudinally slidable in inclined slots 24 (Fig. 8) in the bars 3, 6 and are screwed, along the width of the pane 1 when closed, into the bars 18. Each bar 18 is operated by a lever 29, with handle 27 (Figs. 1, 3), pivotally mounted on a member 30 attached to a plate 31 on the outside of the flange 21, the rounded free end of the lever fitting inside a stirrup 32 on the bar 18. Rocking of the lever 29 displaces the bar 18 slightly longitudinally and due to the pins 23 and inclined slots 24, outwardly so that the pane 1 is moved towards rubber strips 33 carried by members 4, 6 and 9, and strips 36 in a bar 38 on the bottom member 3, the upper surfaces of the strip 36 and bar 38 having the same inclination as a sill 7. Cover plates 41, 42, 44 are provided (Figs. 1, 7), the plate 42 covering the top wedge bar 18 being secured to the member 6 by screws 50, all but two of which may pass through slots 5 extending to the edge of the plate for easy removal. To remove the pane 1, the top plate 42 is removed and the wedge bar 18 moved by the lever 29 to the position in which the pins 23 are opposite openings 52 (Fig. 8) and the pane 1 and bar 18 can be drawn inwards, and then raised clear of the bottom plate 42. Alternatively the bottom plate 42 may be removable and the bottom of the pane be released first. Holes for lubrication are provided in the lower bar 18 and in the plate 41 where the hub 28 of the lever 29 passes through it, and an oil plug 46 is inserted in the hub 28 with a duct 47 leading through the pivot 30 to the bearing surface of the lever 29.
