PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axle box supporting device for a railroad vehicle capable of ensuring rigidity necessary in the vehicle width direction while ensuring large displacement by reducing rigidity in the vertical direction. SOLUTION: In the axle box supporting device 11 for the railroad vehicle, an axle spring 14 is arranged between the upper face of an axle box 2 and the end of a side beam 1, and inner side faces of the side beam 1 and the axle box 2 are coupled with each other via one link 12 with rubber bushes 13a, 13b interposed between both ends thereof. The axle spring 14 comprises a coil spring 14a and anisotropic laminated rubber 14b which is provided in the coil spring 14a and laminated only in the vehicle width direction. Even if the rigidity necessary for the vehicle width direction is obtained, the rigidity in the vertical direction is reduced, the rubber becomes flexible, the large displacement can be ensured, and ride quality can be enhanced.
