PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cast steel which has a high strength, ductility and toughness and is excellent in castability and weldability that are indispensable to a practical material. SOLUTION: The cast steel has a composition comprising, by weight, >0.12% but≤0.20% C, 0.15-0.7% Si, 0.4-1.0% Mn,≤0.015% P,≤0.015% S, 3.0-4.0% Ni, 0.15-0.4% Cr, 0.30-0.50% Mo, 0.05-0.15% V, 0.005-0.02% N and 0.01-0.05% Ca. The cast steel subjected to quenching and tempering heat-treatments achieves a high strength, ductility and toughness, shows a low sensitivity to tempering temperature and is excellent in castability and weldability.
