PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an adverse effect of a large diameter of a rotating polygon mirror and stray light in a configuration in which the detection of the light quantity of a laser element and the detection of a light beam for synchronization control are carried out with one light detection sensor.

SOLUTION: A beam reflection region for synchronization control on which a light beam for synchronization control is reflected is provide on the front side in the rotating direction, and a beam reflection region for light quantity detection on which a light beam for light quantity detection is reflected is provide on the rear side in the rotating direction, both on the same reflection face 51 of the rotating polygon mirror 22, interposing a beam reflection region for image formation on which a light beam for forming an image is reflected.
