PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor suitable sufficiently for practical use by reducing the data amount of a packet transmitted/received between devices effectively thereby enhancing transmission efficiency, and to provide its control method. SOLUTION: The information processor comprises a means 36 for compressing a data payload added to a packet outputted from the transaction layer 24c of a first device 24 and supplying the compressed data payload to a data link layer 24b, and a decompression control means 42 for decompressing the compressed data payload added to a packet received by the data link layer 26b of a second device 26 and supplying the decompressed data payload to a transaction layer 26c.
