PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an idling start/stop device for a vehicle free from malfunction owing to wiring defect and capable of being safely and easily mounted while preventing decrease of brake stepping force caused by engine stop in operation of the device. SOLUTION: Safety of the idling start/stop device is enhanced as the device is provided with a circuit for preventing decrease of stepping force of a foot brake owing to re-stepping of the foot brake, capable of stopping an engine by moving a shift range of the vehicle other than P range and N range to P range or N range and capable of restarting the engine smoothly and easily by returning from the shift range other than P range and N range to P range or N range. Mounting operation becomes easy as wiring to an alternator is unnecessary and an inhibiter switch is utilized. As change in vehicle speed is always monitored, the highly safe device is provided wherein the engine does not stop in travelling even in the case of failure of a vehicle speed signal line.
